First Day of School

  • August 17: Grades 1-9 and half of kindergarten classes*
  • August 18: Urbana Early Childhood School, grades 1-12 and the second half of kindergarten*
  • August 19: All students in attendance

Please note, buildings will send out information on which kindergarten students should attend on which day. Splitting the class for the first day helps our teachers establish routines with our youngest learners.

Attendance

We thank you for partnering with us this year in making attendance at school a priority.

The first week of school sets the tone for the entire year. Students build relationships with their teachers and classmates, learn routines and expectations, and begin establishing the habits that support academic success. Being at school from the very first day helps children feel confident, connected, and ready to learn. We encourage families to make attendance a priority and help students start the school year strong.
